This is still an extreme work in project. All three of my new articles continue to show how useful technology can be for student engagement. Many of the studies show student improvement in the classroom after a technology tool is used. However, every study ties into teacher involvement. Almost every research on technology states how much teacher training and direct/indirect instruction is required to show true engagement and growth in the students! My three new research articles all have a common idea that relates to driving question: What affect does a technology tool have on student engagement? The Answer: Teachers are needed to make technology successful for students in the classroom! 1. Educational Outcomes and Research from 1:1 Computing Settings states, "Across the four empirical studies, it is evident that teachers play an essential role in the effective implementation of 1:1 initiatives and that the onus of responsibility for implementation often falls to the teacher." 2. The Positive Effects of Technology on Teaching and Student Learning points out, "When elementary school teachers use and model different forms of technologies, they actively engage their students and create a stimulating work environment." 3. Increasing Motivation And Engagement in Elementary and Middle School Students Through Technology-Supported Learning Environments explain that in order to increase student motivation and engagement, teachers need to be researchers and implement a technology-supported learning environment. Technology-supported lesson plans which feature technology tools such as computers, laptops, iPods, iPads, interactive whiteboards, student response systems, overhead projectors, document cameras, video and audio recording devices, computer software, etc. were created and implemented throughout many lessons.

I love to hear how to get student engagement and increase student's motivation. I have tried using electronic devices during their mile run and some have found it beneficial. On the other hand, some students use them unrelated to class. Kahoot was great for student's study guide. Students worked in teams and everyone had great participation.

A teacher's role and value cannot be overstated. You can provide ineffective teachers every tech gadget and tool and they will continue to be ineffective. Tech can engage when used effectively, strategically, and purposefully or it can be a complete distraction from whatever learning intention a teacher aims to achieve with students.
